The major A&A works to the existing 5-storey Junior School building involves addition of GFA and reconfiguring the interior layout and program of the spaces to enable better synergy between the various functions. At the same time, all the existing music and performing arts facilities would be upgraded with better facilities and acoustics design to ensure an optimal learning environment for the students.
The intent of the interior design is to offer the students
a more collaborative learning environment with formal and informal performing and learning spaces where students interact and learn through exchange & sharing of ideas.
The tripe-volume atrium space in the centre of the Arts Hub is designed as a multi-function spaces that can be adapted into a performance stage or an informal setting where students gather for exchange of ideas.
Elements of nature are integrated into
the biophilic design of the Arts Hub with the use of materials, daylight, colours and plants in the interior spaces. The biophilic design aims to create a “Forest Symphony” that is conducive for an optimal learning experience of cross-disciplinary in arts, music and dance.
Hence the 5-storey high Arts Hub would become a new central node in the Tanglin Trust School where students gather for the enjoyment of learning arts that promotes experiential learning through collaboration, exchange of ideas and interactions among the school community.
