Modern Abode at Telok Kurau

Location:
Telok Kurau, Singapore

Size:
3 Storey with Mezzanine and Attic

Completion:
Expected Year 2025

The Modern Abode house aims to create modern living environment for a corner terrace house at Telok Kurau, where the main living & dining spaces are being elevated to the 2nd storey above the hustle and bustle of the street traffic and activities. The multi-function entertainment studio is strategically located at the ground level for flexibility in the use of the studio that could be adapted for various uses such as entertainment, guest room, grandparents junior master bedroom, etc, depending on the needs of the family structure across time.

The 2nd storey main double-volume main living spaces are designed with abundance of glass for daylight and ventilation, with the bedroom floors above designed with screens and controlled views for privacy, hence giving rise to a façade outlook of a modern solid cube “floating lightly” above the 2nd storey. The interior bedroom spaces with bathrooms are configured to allow flexibility in combining/reconfiguring the bedrooms to adapt to changing family structures and needs for a multi-generation family.

The juxtaposition of solid, screens and void in varying porosity, colours and material creates an interesting play of contrasting volumetric form and voids in a modern and sleek composition.
