The Duo-double volume house is a corner terrace that the family of 4 envisaged to be a multi-generational house with a generous expanse of space, light and ventilation. Despite the new norm of working from home and home-based learning where family members work or study in their respective private rooms/areas, the close-knitted family wishes their new house to be designed to keep the family well-connected with each other.

Hence, the house is designed with 2 double volume spaces comprising of the 2nd storey living/dining space and the mezzanine work/study studio that are juxtaposed to form a contiguous space to allow the flow of light, air and views to be connected.

The intersection point between these 2 double volume spaces is designed strategically as the work studios of the parents who would then have views from their mezzanine work studios towards the mezzanine study area and 2nd storey living/dining.

The interior of the house adopts an “Oak Timber & Ash Grey” colour scheme that compliments and accentuates the high volume internal spaces with a lighter palette of colours and materials which gives a sense of lightness and spaciousness to the internal spaces of the house. Black and brass accents are strategically introduced to give a touch of luxury and at the same time framing specific views within the interior spaces.
