OWAA has been invited to participate in a SLA land tender for Singapore’s first Inter-generation Co-Living – Henderson Collective, with a co-living consortium to bid for a design-build-operate contract for a co-living serviced apartment. The consortium has been awarded the contract and OWAA has been commissioned to be the architectural, ID and landscape designer as well as to provide QP services for the project.

Henderson Collective involves retrofitting an existing 4-storey student hostel building into a 280-bed serviced apartment building that comes complete with its own communal amenities like social pantry, dining rooms, recreational lounges and multi-purpose rooms. An existing open carpark and an internal courtyard have also been converted into a landscape deck comprising of community garden, therapeutic garden, reflexology park and fitness park.

Using bold colours and lush landscaping, OWAA has given the compound a complete make-over. The design and programs of Henderson Collective are curated with the seniors of tomorrow in mind, who are more independent, are more receptive to collective living and would want to pursue their individual interests and hobbies in larger communal groups. The key focus are on creating ways to imbue a greater sense of purpose and social well-being, on top of physical well-being, in both the building design and programs. Different room types, shared amenities and landscaped spaces have been included in the design to cater for a diverse demographics of residents, creating a

conducive, green inter-generational co-living environment where residents intermingle safely and comfortably in what we call a “shared home-and-garden” environment.
