Admiralty Road Co-Living – First Black-and-White Bungalow Inter-Generational Co-Living in Singapore (un-built)
OWAA has been invited to join a consortium in putting up a bid for a land lease tender at Admiralty Road East. The site comprises of 10 colonial bungalows that used to house the British Royal Navy officers and staffs, spread across a green undulating site. The site has seen the heydays of the British Naval Base and the Sembawang Shipyard and is now at its next stage of development when Sembawang coast is planned to be converted into a mixed-use waterfront living.
OWAA proposes to turn the site into a fenceless compound where all 10 bungalows are seamlessly integrated with one another with gardens, gathering spaces and outdoor facilities.
A linear green park will string the bungalows together as one heritage and wellness park where public gets to learn about history of the site and find themselves re-energizing in a multi-sensory garden. Sports fields, community gardens and pet runs form outdoor gathering spaces for the local community.
The 10 colonial bungalows are proposed to convert into inter-generational co-living apartments where elderly, students, young families and working expatriates live within a compound of common grounds and shared amenities. A community clubhouse is proposed to serve as an identity node for the residents and community. Where a social kitchen allows residents and the community to gather and mingle through cooking and dining, while a community hall allows an array of community events to take place over weekends and public holidays.
OWAA is responsible for the master-planning, architectural design, landscaping and interior design of the proposal.
