Proposed Public Park at River Valley

Location:
River Valley, Singapore

GFA:
Approx. 0.3 hectare

The proposed public park for the community is designed with sustainability, family and community events in mind that rejuvenates and add vibrancy to the vicinity. It is also designed with a focus on well-being and wellness of the community across ages,

where the community engages in holistic & healthy activities such as children sports, nature adventure, healthy food, yoga, etc.

Innovative green design will be adopted in the park design where existing car parking spaces and plain field will be replanted with lush native flora and rainwater organic bioswale system to increase the high green plot ratio of the development and introduce innovative and functional use of the greenery in the development, benchmarking to the good practices & standards of NPARKS Landscape Excellence Assessment Framework (LEAF).

Rainwater recycling system will also be installed within the public park in the form of organic bio-filtration system through bio-swale and rain garden for purpose or irrigation of the edible garden and park. And the rainwater recycling system could benchmark the good practices & standards set by PUB Active, Beautiful, Clean water programme.

Solar panels will be installed within the the public park to generate renewable energy for electric consumption. The renewable solar energy is used to power the development such as e-charging point for security /maintenance personal mobility device & electric cars, energy efficient light fittings, solar-power outdoor lamp posts, solar-power pavilions, solar-powered electric charging points for personal mobility device, and solar-powered rainwater irrigation system

Farm to table food concept will also be explored in the proposed development where community garden and edible gardens will be planted in the eco-park for purpose of urban farming. The edible garden can be centrally managed and/or maintained by community-based “plant lovers” with designated lots for individual household plantings Arrangements can also be made with the F&B restaurants within and probably also outside the development for supply of the community farmed vegetables to these businesses. The public park could also explore the idea of tying up with neighboring schools and organization for “Park Adoption scheme” where students and public would be involved in the maintenance and activities in the park.
