No. 32 Hong Kong Street is a non-conserved commercial shophouse within the Upper Circular Road Conservation Areas. The building owner wishes to entirely refurnish the aging shophouse to give it a new lease of life and refreshing outlook. The entire façade and interior spaces of the office shophouse are redeveloped to project a modern office outlook that is also sensitive to the scale and rhythm of the adjacent rows of conserved shophouses.
The choice of dark graphite colour is chosen as the main colour of the new façade with chrome accents to allow the new office shophouse to stand out among the row of shophouses and at the same time respond sensitively to the adjacent conserved shophouses with its regular and repetitive façade fenestration.
The interior design of the office shophouse is kept coherent with the material and modern outlook of the office façade with the play of contrasting colours to give accents and character to the interior spaces.
