No. 272 East Coast Road is a 2-storey conserved corner shophouse within the Joo Chiat Conservation Area, famed for its low-rise living and seaside lifestyles. Together with the building owner, OWAA has successfully converted the use from 1 residential unit to 2 serviced apartment units. A brand new 2-storey extension and a new roof terrace are added to the rear of the shophouse, resulting in a more efficient floor layout with a focus on the outdoors.

With its high pitched roofs and a smallish building footprint, the interior design takes inspiration from a cabin-living where natural materials, neutral colours and a generous extent of windows fill up the interior with a homey, cozy ambience.

The façade is given a mix of darker accent colours against lighter, neutral background. This stark contrast of colours gives the shophouse a contemporary and striking outlook that befits its prominent corner location.
